No, you do not need to pay to use the app. We offer plenty of free content, including weekly podcasts in each of the languages offered on Borne, which cover a wide variety of interesting topics, from Sadio Mané's story to Monet's lasting influence on the art world. In addition, you can access lessons that teach the 100 most common words in each of the six languages available on the Borne platform. Finally, you'll receive a free 10 minutes of conversation with Borne when you sign up for the app. To continue conversations, you will need to be on a plan. However, with plans starting at $5.99, this equates to just $2 an hour for high-quality, immersive language instruction, much more affordable than competing language learning platforms.

Our roadmap involves expanding to a wide variety of base languages, underpinning our commitment to creating a truly global community. It also enables our users to be able to learn new languages using languages that they just learned. When you make a payment in the Borne app, your transaction is securely processed by Apple if you're using an iPhone and by Google if you're using an Android device. We at Borne do not store or even see any of your payment information, as both Apple and Google act as intermediaries, helping to ensure that your financial data remains confidential and protected by the security protocols of these much larger companies. When engaging in conversations on the Borne app, it is important to note that you are not speaking with a real person. Instead, you are interacting with an AI-generated voice that is powered by advanced text-to-speech technology. This voice is designed to sound natural and human-like to enhance your language learning experience. The AI technology helps to ensure that all Borne's users have consistent, high-quality interactions tailored to each user's learning needs.

The way minutes roll over depends on how they are purchased. When you subscribe to a plan in the Borne app, your minutes are replenished at the beginning of each month—e.g., the Basic Plan gives you 180 minutes each month. Unused minutes from your subscription do not carry over to the next month, encouraging more consistent practice. However, if you purchase additional minutes beyond your plan, those minutes will roll over to future months. These rolled-over minutes are only used after you've exhausted your plan's monthly minutes, ensuring you get full value from your extra purchase.
